What is Ichthyosis in Golden Retrievers?

It happens because the outer layer of their skin doesn’t form properly, leading to excessive flaking and scaling. This condition is inherited, meaning it’s passed down from their parents through their genes.

What Does It Look Like?

Over time, the skin can develop thick, black, or gray patches that are dry and scaly. The flakes can stick to the dog’s fur, and the skin may feel rough or greasy It usually doesn’t cause itching, scabbing, or hot spots, so it’s different from allergies

Is It Serious?

What Causes It?
